HA! I understood everything. HA!
ReplyDeleteBut I still think the book would be too much for my French ... still sticking to TinTin ... someone might translate it .. hm? HMMM?? ;-)
I am definitely not the person to translate it, novels are technically too much for my French, too. I skim over new words as I read, but note them to look up later. I did copy edit a manuscript that had already been translated from Dutch once, though.
ReplyDeleteThere is another review up on Amazon (he must have posted around the same time I did) that is much more comprehensive than mine. Makes me think I should re-read the book.
A friend of mine does a translation of a book from Dutch to German. Just for fun. She paused during the summer but I guess will finish it sooner or later. I really admire her because of her stamina.
ReplyDeleteBut isn't this the usual - that everyone sees different aspects. It's like panta rhei : the book is never the same book, the novel is never the same novel.
Eh - my first steps in philosophy, late at night ....
Gardening is my fun. At least during good weather. It's not so fun in the rain.
ReplyDeleteI wish panta rhei applied to the aging process, then I could be anti-aging as I age.
Most of the time I think it's cool - getting older. Only when by chance I see a four year old photo and realise there has been a time not so far away when my hair wasn't grey ... :-S
ReplyDeleteFor me it's the sun damage. Too many years out in the sun. Age spots... wrinkles... sigh...
ReplyDeleteme - wrinkles like canyons .... age spots like .... eh ... however - too much sun, too.
ReplyDelete*slaps on more sunscreen*
ReplyDeleteNever used sunscreen. Can't be healthy. No. Only when friends force me - wintersport, moutains, snow, heights ... these things. Someone has to hold my arms and hands and someone has to put this smeary slimey stuff on my face. Brrrr.
ReplyDeleteI use Vichy Capital Soleil, it has no parabens!
ReplyDelete(and it's not heavy on your face like other sunscreens)
